Maine Air National Guard
The Maine Air National Guard (ME ANG) is the air force militia of the State of Maine, United States of America. It is, along with the Maine Army National Guard, an element of the Maine National Guard.
As state militia units, the units in the Maine Air National Guard are not in the normal United States Air Force chain of command. They are under the jurisdiction of the Governor of Maine though the office of the Maine Adjutant General unless they are federalized by order of the President of the United States. The Maine Air National Guard is headquartered at Bangor Air National Guard Base, Bangor, and its commander is Major General John W. Libby.

“We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas; but Maine and Texas, it may be, have nothing important to communicate.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“A hook shot kisses the rim and
hangs there, helplessly, but doesnt drop
and for once our gangly starting center
boxes out his man and times his jump
perfectly, gathering the orange leather
from the air like a cherished possession”
—Edward Hirsch (b. 1950)
“While I do not think it was so intended I have always been of the opinion that this turned out to be much the best for me. I had no national experience. What I have ever been able to do has been the result of first learning how to do it. I am not gifted with intuition. I need not only hard work but experience to be ready to solve problems. The Presidents who have gone to Washington without first having held some national office have been at great disadvantage.”
—Calvin Coolidge (18721933)
“We must be cruel as well as compassionate: let us guard against becoming poorer than nature is!”
—Friedrich Nietzsche (18441900)
