Return To The Monarchs

Returning to the Monarchs for the 1948 season and stayed with the team until his retirement from top-level baseball in 1950. Subsequently, he was a successful minor league player in the Texas League from 1953 through 1956. Although his career home run total is not known, there is no doubt that he was among the Negro League career leaders in homers, despite a relatively brief career.

Famous quotes containing the words return to, return and/or monarchs:

I hate that word. It’s return—a return to the millions of people who’ve never forgiven me for deserting the screen.
    Billy Wilder (b. 1906)

The house waited on your private beach
    each day,
when you had the time to return to her.
And you so often had the time,
even when fury blew out her chimney,
even when love lifted the shingles....
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

There was about all the Romans a heroic tone peculiar to ancient life. Their virtues were great and noble, and these virtues made them great and noble. They possessed a natural majesty that was not put on and taken off at pleasure, as was that of certain eastern monarchs when they put on or took off their garments of Tyrian dye. It is hoped that this is not wholly lost from the world, although the sense of earthly vanity inculcated by Christianity may have swallowed it up in humility.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
