FK Vardar Skopje (Macedonian: ФК Вардар Cкoпje) is a Macedonian football club based in the capital city of Skopje. They currently play in the 1-MFL and the club's home ground is the Philip II Arena (capacity 33,460). Vardar is the most successful team in the country having won six Macedonian League titles and five Macedonian Cups. FK Vardar Skopje is leading Macedonian football club. Football club Vardar Skopje with that name is formed since 1911, when the club was known as Vardar 1911. Today's football club Vardar was founded in 1947 when the then Skopje football clubs (and general sports associations) "Macedonia" and "Pobeda" are united in a club named Vardar and the familiar red and black colours . During the federal league of SFR Yugoslavia, FK Vardar Skopje was the only club from Macedonia with big success in Yugoslav league and presented a club which was kind of football national team of Macedonia, because in those years, all young and talented players in the country played in FK Vardar Skopje. For age, the most successful period was when legendary football coach "Lisec" Andon Dončevski led team of stars like Darko Pancev, Ilija Najdoski, Toni Savevski, Vasil Ringov and with them won the title in the Yugoslav First League.FK Vardar became the only football club from Macedonia who managed to win the Championship and Cup in Yugoslavia.
