Further information: List of countries in the Eurovision Song ContestBelgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, and Switzerland make their second appearances following their débuts in 1956. Austria, Denmark, and United Kingdom made their débuts, bringing the total number of countries to ten, three more than in the first ever contest.
