Hawkins Preserve is a natural museum on 120 acres including seven ecological zones:

  • Piñon-juniper woodland or Pygmy forest
  • Sagebrush steppe
  • Slickrock Pothole
  • Rimrock
  • Alluvial bottomland
  • Riparian corridor and intermittent streams
  • Post-disturbance and dunes
