Events
Yongpyong Resort has hosted races in both the alpine and disabled alpine skiing World Cups. The resort hosted the 2009 Biathlon World Championships, although the event was marred by lack of snow due to a unseasonable warmth, and criticized for poor spectator attendance.
Yongpyong will host technical alpine skiing events for the 2018 Winter Olympics (slalom and giant) and 2018 Winter Paralympics, and was also involved in the bids for 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics (missing out to Vancouver and Sochi, respectively).
Some scenes of the popular 2002 drama Winter Sonata were filmed at the resort.

“Genius is present in every age, but the men carrying it within them remain benumbed unless extraordinary events occur to heat up and melt the mass so that it flows forth.”
