West Durham Link

The West Durham Link is a planned freeway and tollway in the Regional Municipality of Durham in southcentral Ontario, which will connect Highway 401 with the eastern extension of Highway 407. The freeway, which is one of two as-yet unnumbered connectors for the 407 extension, will be located entirely within Whitby, within a kilometre of its western border at Durham Regional Road 23 (Lake Ridge Road). It will be approximately 10 km (6.2 mi) long and is expected to be completed in 2015.

Famous quotes containing the words west and/or link:

The [nineteenth-century] young men who were Puritans in politics were anti-Puritans in literature. They were willing to die for the independence of Poland or the Manchester Fenians; and they relaxed their tension by voluptuous reading in Swinburne.
    —Rebecca West (1892–1983)

This sand seemed to us the connecting link between land and water. It was a kind of water on which you could walk, and you could see the ripple-marks on its surface, produced by the winds, precisely like those at the bottom of a brook or lake. We had read that Mussulmans are permitted by the Koran to perform their ablutions in sand when they cannot get water, a necessary indulgence in Arabia, and we now understand the propriety of this provision.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
