Vipera darevskii is a small venomous viper species found in North-West Armenia and North East Turkey and possibly also in adjucent Southern Georgia. This snake was proposed to be a distinct species in Vipera kaznakowi complex in 1986, and named in honor to the famous Russian scientist, herpetologist Ilya Darevsky, who originally reported this snake as a new species for the fauna of Armenia -Vipera kaznakovi dinniki (dinnicki in his originally published spelling) in 1956. No subspecies are currently recognized.
