Super Quiz - The Books

The Books

Fisher went on to write three additional books under the same title but numbered II, III and IV. In addition, two Best of SUPER QUIZ books were published along with a Canadian Super Quiz. Three Super Quiz games (I, II, III) were produced by Waddington's of Canada starting in 1983. The popular quizzes were eventually syndicated by the "North American Syndicate" in the 1980s and they continue to be published daily in newspapers across North America. The syndicated quiz consists of 9 questions on weekdays and 15 questions on Saturdays. Topics run the gamut from Americana to zoology.

Famous quotes containing the word books:

Americans will listen, but they do not care to read. War and Peace must wait for the leisure of retirement, which never really comes: meanwhile it helps to furnish the living room. Blockbusting fiction is bought as furniture. Unread, it maintains its value. Read, it looks like money wasted. Cunningly, Americans know that books contain a person, and they want the person, not the book.
    Anthony Burgess (b. 1917)

In an extensive reading of recent books by psychologists, psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, and inspirationalists, I have discovered that they all suffer from one or more of these expression-complexes: italicizing, capitalizing, exclamation-pointing, multiple-interrogating, and itemizing. These are all forms of what the psychos themselves would call, if they faced their condition frankly, Rhetorical-Over-Compensation.
    James Thurber (1894–1961)
