Quad Cities Minor League Baseball History
Quad City minor league baseball has a deep history that includes teams in Davenport, Moline and Rock Island. Early organized baseball in the Quad Cities can be traced back to the 1879 Davenport Brown Stockings who played one season in the Northwestern League. In subsequent seasons, Davenport teams with catchy names (Onion Weeders, Pilgrims, Hawkeyes) played before the turn of the 20th century in a various leagues.
