BEST!, a comedy play written by Liverpool playwright Fred Lawless, was staged at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre and the Dublin Theatre Festival in 1995 and 1996. The play, which was mainly fiction, showed a scenario where after Pete Best's sacking, he went on to be become a world famous rock superstar while his ex-group struggled as one hit wonders. Famous quotes containing the word theatre:

... in the happy laughter of a theatre audience one can get the most immediate and numerically impressive guarantee that there is nothing in one’s mind which is not familiar to the mass of persons living at the time.
    Rebecca West (1892–1983)

The poem of the mind in the act of finding
What will suffice. It has not always had
To find: the scene was set; it repeated what
    Was in the script.
    Then the theatre was changed
To something else. Its past was a souvenir.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

I think theatre should always be somewhat suspect.
    Václav Havel (b. 1936)
