Stump lives in his hometown of Chicago, although he also owns a home in Los Angeles for work purposes. On September 29, 2012, Stump married his longtime girlfriend Elisa Yao in Chicago.
In 2012 he was elected a member of Grammy's Chicago Chapter Governors.
