Owen Oyston - Personal Life

Personal Life

Oyston married his wife, Vicki, in 1964, and they have two sons, one of whom, Karl, was the chairman of Blackpool F.C. until 18 August 2010, when he resigned and also left the Board of Directors of the club. The Oystons divorced in 1982, but remarried in 1988.

On 13 June 2008 a fire broke out at his 13th-century country home Claughton Hall. The fire started in an outbuilding and more than twenty fire-fighters fought the blaze, which they said could have been far more serious had the alarm been raised later.

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

He hadn’t known me fifteen minutes, and yet he was ... ready to talk ... I was still to learn that Munshin, like many people from the capital, could talk openly about his personal life while remaining a dream of espionage in his business operations.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)

I am in no boastful mood. I shall not do more than I can, and I shall do all I can to save the government, which is my sworn duty as well as my personal inclination. I shall do nothing in malice. What I deal with is too vast for malicious dealing.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

Life! Life! Don’t let us go to life for our fulfilment or our experience. It is a thing narrowed by circumstances, incoherent in its utterance, and without that fine correspondence of form and spirit which is the only thing that can satisfy the artistic and critical temperament. It makes us pay too high a price for its wares, and we purchase the meanest of its secrets at a cost that is monstrous and infinite.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)
