Mismanagement of Public Funds and Unethical Business Practices
In total, SIF, headed by Osama Saeed, squandered almost half a million pounds in grant money from the Scottish Government in less than two years of operation (2008-2010), over £200,000 of which was from taxpayer revenue. His resignation from Scottish politics, and subsequent escape to Qatar, took place only three days after his Scottish Islamic Foundation organisation received a damning auditor’s report on their finances and the threat of legal action. Scots Labour leader Iain Gray has stated that, “Serious questions need to be asked about this organisation.”. Even before SIF met its ill-fated demise and was forced to repay some of the funds it had squandered, Saeed himself pocketed a handsome paycheck as SIF's Chief Executive. Although he has continued in self-promotional activities in the Middle-East, few consider he will ever return to Scottish public life in light of the in-fighting that he has created within the Scottish-Muslim community and his betrayal of public trust.

Famous quotes containing the words mismanagement of, public, business and/or practices:
“The majority of the men of the North, and of the South and East and West, are not men of principle. If they vote, they do not send men to Congress on errands of humanity; but while their brothers and sisters are being scourged and hung for loving liberty,... it is the mismanagement of wood and iron and stone and gold which concerns them.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“On our streets it is the sight of a totally unknown face or figure which arrests the attention, rather than, as in big cities, the strangeness of occasionally seeing someone you know.”
—For the State of Vermont, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
“Im afraid, Mr. Goldwyn, that we shall not ever be able to do business together. You see, youre an artist, and care only about art, while Im only a tradesman and care only about money.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
“Money made through dishonest practices will not last long.”
—Chinese proverb.
