Northville High School

Northville High School is the public high school of Northville Public Schools that serves the city of Northville, Michigan, the larger Northville Township, Novi Township and the southern part of the city of Novi.

The school opened in 1959. As the school district population has grown throughout the years, so has the high school. 2,266 students were enrolled at the beginning of the 2010–11 school year. The high school used to be located in the city of Northville itself. With the substantial growth of the surrounding community, the district constructed a larger facility on Six Mile Road in Northville Township, south of the city--though the mailing address still says Northville. The previous building became Hillside Middle School. Two years after construction of the new building, an extension to the east wing of the building was added. On October 7, 2009, the school was evacuated due to a bomb threat received over phone. In addition, another weapon scare took place on January 20, 2011, causing a lockdown and SWAT team involvement. This weapon scare also caused shelter in place precautions at the other Northville Public Schools.

Famous quotes containing the words high and/or school:

Everything tends to make us believe that there exists a certain point of the mind at which life and death, the real and the imagined, past and future, the communicable and the incommunicable, high and low, cease to be perceived as contradictions.
    André Breton (1896–1966)

The child to be concerned about is the one who is actively unhappy, [in school].... In the long run, a child’s emotional development has a far greater impact on his life than his school performance or the curriculum’s richness, so it is wise to do everything possible to change a situation in which a child is suffering excessively.
    Dorothy H. Cohen (20th century)
