Nordic Green Left

Nordic green left refers to a specific brand of socialism from the Nordic countries that incorporates elements of environmentalism and feminism. Nordic green left parties are organized in:

  • a subgroup of the European United Left–Nordic Green Left-group (EUL–NGL) in the European parliament called Nordic Green Left, in this the Finnish Left Alliance and the Swedish Left Party participate as full members, the Norwegian Socialist Left Party participates as an observer and the Danish Socialist People's Party has participated in the past.
  • an alliance of political parties called Nordic Green Left Alliance (NGLA), which consists out of all aforementioned parties and the Left-Green Movement. The NGLA participates as an observer in the Party of the European Left, which is the other subgroup of the UEL/NGL.

Famous quotes containing the words green and/or left:

But we still remember ... above all, the cool, free aspect of the wild apple trees, generously proffering their fruit to us, though still green and crude,—the hard, round, glossy fruit, which, if not ripe, still was not poison, but New English too, brought hither, its ancestors, by ours once. These gentler trees imparted a half-civilized and twilight aspect to the otherwise barbarian land.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

To minor authors is left the ornamentation of the commonplace: these do not bother about any reinventing of the world; they merely try to squeeze the best they can out of a given order of things, out of traditional patterns of fiction.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)
