Owen married Jill Lavery in 1977 in Birmingham. The couple had four children together: Andy, Tim, Chris (born November 1986) and Jenny (born September 1988) and lived together in Birmingham until August 2009, when it was reported in the News of the World newspaper, that Nick and Jill have separated after 32 years of marriage, with Nick moving out of the family home. The reason for the separation was given as the couple just drifting apart.
