National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC), also known as BetterInvesting, is a Michigan-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (a not-for-profit organization prior to 1998) whose aim is to teach individuals how to become successful long-term investors. The NAIC is an umbrella organization with around 13,000 member investment clubs, and approximately 120,000 individual members. Membership has been in a steady decline since a peak of well over 400,000 in 1999.
NAIC is the legal name of the organization. Its member magazine is called BetterInvesting, and it became the branded name of the association in 2004. NAIC/BetterInvesting is headquartered in Madison Heights, MI, a suburb of Detroit. The organization was founded in 1951 when five investment clubs formed the national association. Its mission is to educate individuals on the benefits of long-term investing in common stocks. With the popularity of 401(k)s and other defined contribution retirement plans, programs on investing in both stock and bond mutual funds were added.

Famous quotes containing the words national, association and/or corporation:
“Maybe its understandable what a history of failures Americas foreign policy has been. We are, after all, a country full of people who came to America to get away from foreigners. Any prolonged examination of the U.S. government reveals foreign policy to be Americas miniature schnauzera noisy but small and useless part of the national household.”
—P.J. (Patrick Jake)
“With all their faults, trade-unions have done more for humanity than any other organization of men that ever existed. They have done more for decency, for honesty, for education, for the betterment of the race, for the developing of character in man, than any other association of men.”
—Clarence Darrow (18571938)
“It is truly enough said that a corporation has no conscience; but a corporation of conscientious men is a corporation with a conscience.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
