Political Career
Rana was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Shortly after the Asian Games, he indicated that he would be interested in contesting elections and campaigning for the party. Recently political party BJP has announced that Rana will be contesting Lok Sabha elections from Tehri seat which also comprises most of the Dehradun town, Uttarkashi and Tehri district of Uttarakhand. Jaspal rana contestd 2009 loksabha election from tehri gharwal seat representing BJP but unfortunately he lost to Vijay bahuguna of congress.Rana joined the INC (Indian National Congress)in year 2012 and is presently an active member of the party in Uttarakhand.
