History
The origins of hardcore emerged in the late 1980s. It largely derived from the combining of techno with EBM and New Beat sounds coming from the Belgian club scene at the time. A number of artists such as à;GRUMH... and later Leather Strip began to call their music hardcore techno. The origins of the name are largely rooted in this scene, although hardcore also regularly incorporated elements of house into its sound.

“And now this is the way in which the history of your former life has reached my ears! As he said this he held out in his hand the fatal letter.”
—Anthony Trollope (18151882)
“All history is a record of the power of minorities, and of minorities of one.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
“There is one great fact, characteristic of this our nineteenth century, a fact which no party dares deny. On the one hand, there have started into life industrial and scientific forces which no epoch of former human history had ever suspected. On the other hand, there exist symptoms of decay, far surpassing the horrors recorded of the latter times of the Roman empire. In our days everything seems pregnant with its contrary.”
—Karl Marx (18181883)
