Services

TfGM does not operate any bus or train services but does provide financial support for a number of subsided bus and train services. Bus services are operated on behalf of TfGM by numerous operators including First Greater Manchester, Stagecoach Manchester, Arriva North West, Bluebird, JPT, Maytree Travel and Rossendalebus.

TfGM also funds the Metroshuttle services in Manchester, Bolton, Oldham, Stockport (jointly funded with Manchester City Council, Bolton Council, Oldham Council, Stockport Council, NCP and Allied London. They previous funded the Salford Quays Link service 9 (jointly funded with Salford City Council and University of Salford) linking Salford Crescent and the university with MediaCityUK. This service was replaced by the commercially-operated service 50, operated by Stagecoach, operating between East Didsbury and MediaCityUK via Manchester and Salford.

Train services in the area are mainly operated by Northern Rail with additional services from First TransPennine Express, Virgin Trains, Arriva Trains Wales, CrossCountry and East Midlands Trains.

The Metrolink tram network is owned by Transport for Greater Manchester but the service is operated under contract from TfGM by RATP Group.
