Fforest Fawr - Extent

Extent

The area extends from the edge of the Black Mountain in the west eastwards to the A470 Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil road, just west of the Brecon Beacons themselves. It includes the peaks of Fan Fawr (734m), Fan Frynych (629m), Craig Cerrig-gleisiad (629m), Fan Llia (632m), Fan Nedd (663m), Fan Gyhirych (725m), Fan Bwlch Chwyth (603m) and Cefn Cul (562m). Traditionally Fforest Fawr also included the peaks of Fan Hir and Fan Brycheiniog though the modern recreational use of the name tends to be restricted to east of the Black Mountain of which they form a part.

Famous quotes containing the word extent:

In the extent and proper structure of the Union, therefore, we behold a republican remedy for the diseases most incident to republican government.
    James Madison (1751–1836)

Love brings to light the lofty and hidden characteristics of the lover—what is rare and exceptional in him: to that extent it can easily be deceptive with respect to what is normal in him.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

The West is preparing to add its fables to those of the East. The valleys of the Ganges, the Nile, and the Rhine having yielded their crop, it remains to be seen what the valleys of the Amazon, the Plate, the Orinoco, the St. Lawrence, and the Mississippi will produce. Perchance, when, in the course of ages, American liberty has become a fiction of the past,—as it is to some extent a fiction of the present,—the poets of the world will be inspired by American mythology.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
