Economic Production Quantity - Inventory Cost Graph

Inventory Cost Graph

This figure graphs the Holding Cost and Ordering Cost per year equations. The third line is the addition of these two equations, which generates the Total Inventory Cost per year. This graph should give you a better understanding of the derivation of the optimal ordering quantity equation, i.e., the EPQ equation.

Famous quotes containing the words cost and/or graph:

If music in general is an imitation of history, opera in particular is an imitation of human willfulness; it is rooted in the fact that we not only have feelings but insist upon having them at whatever cost to ourselves.... The quality common to all the great operatic roles, e.g., Don Giovanni, Norma, Lucia, Tristan, Isolde, Brünnhilde, is that each of them is a passionate and willful state of being. In real life they would all be bores, even Don Giovanni.
    —W.H. (Wystan Hugh)

When producers want to know what the public wants, they graph it as curves. When they want to tell the public what to get, they say it in curves.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)
