Ean Evans - Death

Death

In late 2008 Evans was diagnosed with cancer, of which he died on May 6, 2009, at his home in Columbus, Mississippi. He is survived by his wife Eva and their two daughters, Sydney and Andrea.

An ailing Evans performed with Skynyrd one last time from a chair on April 19, 2009, at the Mississippi Kid Festival, organized in support of Ean Evans.

Lynyrd Skynyrd continued its 2009 tour with Robert Kearns on bass. He was preceded by a Nashville musician named Trey for the first part of the year. Johnny Van Zant asked audiences to pray for Evans.

Famous quotes containing the word death:

Why does man freeze to death trying to reach the North Pole? Why does man drive himself to suffer the steam and heat of the Amazon? Why does he stagger his mind with the mathematics of the sky? Once the question mark has arisen in the human brain the answer must be found, if it takes a hundred years. A thousand years.
    Walter Reisch (1903–1963)

    I’m afraid of needles.
I’m tired of rubber sheets and tubes.
I’m tired of faces that I don’t know
and now I think that death is starting.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

The things a man has to have are hope and confidence in himself against odds, and sometimes he needs somebody, his pal or his mother or his wife or God, to give him that confidence. He’s got to have some inner standards worth fighting for or there won’t be any way to bring him into conflict. And he must be ready to choose death before dishonor without making too much song and dance about it. That’s all there is to it.
    Clark Gable (1901–1960)
