Downtown Salt Lake City - Crime

Crime

Pioneer Park, on the western edge of downtown, has developed a reputation as one of the most crime-ridden areas of the state, and also has a high rate of drug dealers. During a six-day crackdown in early November, 2007, 658 people were arrested in and around the park, approximately 70% of all arrests made in the city during that time period in an area that takes up just 1% of Salt Lake City. Pioneer Park was completely renovated in early 2008 following several severe assault incidents.

Famous quotes containing the word crime:

I wish so much of crime didn’t take place after dark. It’s most unnerving.
    Ketti Frings (1915–1981)

Each man’s private conscience ought to be a nice little self-registering thermometer: he ought to carry his moral code incorruptibly and explicitly within himself, and not care what the world thinks. The mass of human beings, however, are not made that way; and many people have been saved from crime or sin by the simple dislike of doing things they would not like to confess ...
    Katharine Fullerton Gerould (1879–1944)

There is a blessed necessity by which the interest of men is always driving them to the right; and, again, making all crime mean and ugly.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
