Delta Air Lines Fleet

As of November 24, 2012, the Delta mainline fleet comprises 723 aircraft in service.

Prior to Delta's 2009 merger with Northwest Airlines, Delta operated an all-Boeing & McDonnell Douglas fleet, but incorporated Northwest's Airbus aircraft into the Delta fleet after the merger. However, Northwest operated some Boeing aircraft such as the 747 and 757.

Famous quotes containing the words air, lines and/or fleet:

Now Air is hush’d, save where the weak-ey’d Bat,
With short shrill Shriek flits by on leathern Wing,
    Or where the Beetle winds
    His small but sullen Horn,
    William Collins (1721–1759)

I need not tell you of the inadequacy of the American shipping marine on the Pacific Coast.... For this reason it seems to me that there is no subject to which Congress can better devote its attention in the coming session than the passage of a bill which shall encourage our merchant marine in such a way as to establish American lines directly between New York and the eastern ports and South American ports, and both our Pacific Coast ports and the Orient and the Philippines.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

On the middle of that quiet floor
sits a fleet of small black ships,
    square-rigged, sails furled, motionless,
    their spars like burned matchsticks.
    Elizabeth Bishop (1911–1979)
