Future of Crowtree
The Crowtree Centre was marked for closure and the space would have been used to extend The Bridges shopping centre. After the offers made by The Bridges shopping centre had fell through, a group was been launched on social networking site Facebook titled 'Bring Back Crowtree Leisure Centre'. Despite this support, on 8th of February 2013 Sunderland Echo Story it was announced that Crowtree was closing down.
