Chaminade High School - Religious Identity

Religious Identity

All students take four years of Religion, beginning with biblical and Salvation history (Freshman and Sophomore years), followed by Christian morality and ethics (Junior year), and Christian existentialism (Senior year). The entire student body gathers for Mass each month; additionally, the Gold Star Mass is celebrated every Fall to honor those Chaminade alumni who gave their lives in protection of the United States as members of the military services. Students have the opportunity for confession (the Sacrament of Reconciliation) every Tuesday and Thursday, while Eucharistic adoration is offered every Monday to students and faculty. A short prayer service is also offered every day, before each lunch period.

Famous quotes containing the words religious and/or identity:

It is the responsibility of every adult—especially parents, educators and religious leaders—to make sure that children hear what we have learned from the lessons of life and to hear over and over that we love them and they are not alone.
    Marian Wright Edelman (20th century)

The “female culture” has shifted more rapidly than the “male culture”; the image of the go-get ‘em woman has yet to be fully matched by the image of the let’s take-care-of-the-kids- together man. More important, over the last thirty years, men’s underlying feelings about taking responsibility at home have changed much less than women’s feelings have changed about forging some kind of identity at work.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
