  • Because of its withdrawal in last edition Armenian champions Pyunik Yerevan were not allowed to compete, Banants Yerevan taking their place.
  • Kazakhstan champions FC Astana refused to take part in this year's competition, so their place was offered to FC Aktobe-Lento, who played instead.
  • Serbian side OFK Beograd played instead of the customary junior Russian national team, turning into the first non post-Soviet club to take part in the CIS Cup.
