Cultural Appearances

The Yau Ma Tei Police Station is the location of a scene of the 2001 film Rush Hour 2. However, because the scene called for an explosion, the real filming had to be done in a movie studio, where wires and other special effects could be used.

Famous quotes containing the words cultural and/or appearances:

If in the earlier part of the century, middle-class children suffered from overattentive mothers, from being “mother’s only accomplishment,” today’s children may suffer from an underestimation of their needs. Our idea of what a child needs in each case reflects what parents need. The child’s needs are thus a cultural football in an economic and marital game.
    Arlie Hochschild (20th century)

It is doubtless wise, when a reform is introduced, to try to persuade the British public that it is not a reform at all; but appearances must be kept up to some extent at least.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)
