Thrills

Thrills is a Canadian brand of chewing gum now made by Concord Confections. It was originally produced by the O-Pee-Chee company of London, Ontario, Canada which was subsequently bought by Nestle in the late 1980's. It is well known for its distinctive rosewater flavour. Comparisons of its flavour to soap are so prevalent that recent packaging states "it still tastes like soap!" It is also well known that its flavour disappears very quickly as it is chewed. It is also known for its distinct purple colour. Thrills once came in a cardboard package similar to a Chiclets box but now come in a paper envelope, or a blister pack. Prior to the 1980's it was a staple of the "penny candy" business of corner grocery stores in Canada. It is now made in and imported from Spain.

Famous quotes containing the word thrills:

And the glory of character is in affronting the horrors of depravity to draw thence new nobilities of power: as Art lives and thrills in new use and combining of contrasts, and mining into the dark evermore for blacker pits of night.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The poet’s body even is not fed like other men’s, but he sometimes tastes the genuine nectar and ambrosia of the gods, and lives a divine life. By the healthful and invigorating thrills of inspiration his life is preserved to a serene old age.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Some hours seem not to be occasion for any deed, but for resolves to draw breath in. We do not directly go about the execution of the purpose that thrills us, but shut our doors behind us and ramble with prepared mind, as if the half were already done. Our resolution is taking root or hold on the earth then, as seeds first send a shoot downward which is fed by their own albumen, ere they send one upward to the light.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
