New Headquarters
With time, the Parker Center became outdated and was in need of expensive seismic retrofits. After considering a number of downtown sites for a new facility, the city council selected a property directly south of City Hall, Caltrans's former Los Angeles headquarters. Ground was broken for the new building in January 2007, which was dedicated on October 24, 2009.
Both the Old Parker Center and the new headquarters have heliports, respectively. The Old Parker Center heliport is marked with a number '5', while the new center is inscribed with an 'H'.
The LAPD Robbery and Homicide Division still operated from an annex of the Old Parker Center.
On January 15, 2013, the City of Los Angeles closed Parker Center for good.

“What does headquarters think these guys came over here for, a sewing circle? They go up playing for keeps. Cops and robbers with rocks in the snowballs. Brass knuckles and lead pipes and a roughneck conviction they can lick any man in the world.”
—Dalton Trumbo (19051976)
“If the national security is involved, anything goes. There are no rules. There are people so lacking in roots about what is proper and what is improper that they dont know theres anything wrong in breaking into the headquarters of the opposition party.”
—Helen Gahagan Douglas (19001980)
