WWA World Heavyweight Championship - History

History

The WWA World Heavyweight Championship was unveiled in 2001 and first won by The Road Dogg on either October 19, or 23, 2001 by defeating Jeff Jarrett in Australia. Shortly after, however, the title was vacated for WWA's first pay-per-view, The Inception, on October 26, 2001. There, the title was contested in a tournament won by Jeff Jarrett. The title was contested in the WWA as its primary title until May 25, 2003, where the title was unified with the National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Champion in Auckland, New Zealand by Jeff Jarrett, the NWA World Heavyweight Champion, who defeated Sting, the WWA World Heavyweight Champion.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Boys forget what their country means by just reading “the land of the free” in history books. Then they get to be men, they forget even more. Liberty’s too precious a thing to be buried in books.
    Sidney Buchman (1902–1975)

The disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present. History is a hill or high point of vantage, from which alone men see the town in which they live or the age in which they are living.
    Gilbert Keith Chesterton (1874–1936)

The awareness that health is dependent upon habits that we control makes us the first generation in history that to a large extent determines its own destiny.
Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
