The school began development on a new building in 2009 and is expected to be completed sometime in 2011, at which time an older building will be torn down.
In November 2009, the school system in which White Station is included won a grant of $90 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The gift of more than $90 million from Gates will fund plans to improve teacher effectiveness, including raising the bar for tenure and paying $6,000 incentives for high quality new teachers who stay at least four years.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or development:
“You have too much of a life yet before you, and have shown too much of promise as an officer, for your future to be lightly surrendered.”
—Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)
“I hope I may claim in the present work to have made it probable that the laws of arithmetic are analytic judgments and consequently a priori. Arithmetic thus becomes simply a development of logic, and every proposition of arithmetic a law of logic, albeit a derivative one. To apply arithmetic in the physical sciences is to bring logic to bear on observed facts; calculation becomes deduction.”
—Gottlob Frege (1848–1925)
