Equivalent Circulating Density
The Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) is defined as the increase in bottom hole pressure due to friction and it is normally expressed in pounds per gallon. Equivalent Circulating Density (when forward circulating) is defined as the apparent fluid density which results from adding annular friction to the actual fluid density in the well.
Where; ECD = equivalent circulating density (ppg), FPann =annular friction pressure (psi), TVD = true vertical depth (ft), FD = fluid density (ppg)

Famous quotes containing the words equivalent and/or circulating:
“But then people dont read literature in order to understand; they read it because they want to re-live the feelings and sensations which they found exciting in the past. Art can be a lot of things; but in actual practice, most of it is merely the mental equivalent of alcohol and cantharides.”
—Aldous Huxley (18941963)
“The current flows fast and furious. It issues in a spate of words from the loudspeakers and the politicians. Every day they tell us that we are a free people fighting to defend freedom. That is the current that has whirled the young airman up into the sky and keeps him circulating there among the clouds. Down here, with a roof to cover us and a gasmask handy, it is our business to puncture gasbags and discover the seeds of truth.”
—Virginia Woolf (18821941)
