Vehicular Technology Conference

The Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC) is a semiannual international academic conference on wireless communications. It is organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Vehicular Technology Society. The first conference was held in Detroit, Michigan in 1950 and then annually until 1998. Since 1999 the conference has been held in spring and fall, when it is known as VTC Spring and VTC Fall respectively. The alignment with the seasons has meant that the conference has almost always been held in the Northern Hemisphere, but in May 2006, VTC Spring was held in Melbourne, Australia, visiting the Southern Hemisphere for the first time.

Recent VTCs have been attended by about 600-700 people. The conference focuses mainly on the physical layer and medium access control layer (PHY and MAC) of wireless systems.

Famous quotes containing the words technology and/or conference:

Primitive peoples tried to annul death by portraying the human body—we do it by finding substitutes for the human body. Technology instead of mysticism!
    Max Frisch (1911–1991)

Politics is still the man’s game. The women are allowed to do the chores, the dirty work, and now and then—but only occasionally—one is present at some secret conference or other. But it’s not the rule. They can go out and get the vote, if they can and will; they can collect money, they can be grateful for being permitted to work. But that is all.
    Mary Roberts Rinehart (1876–1958)
