Vehicle Registration Plates Of Utah
The U.S. state of Utah first required its residents to register their motor vehicles and display license plates in 1915. A gallery of license plates from 1915 to 1974 can be found here. The state participates in the YOM (year of manufacturer) program where vehicle owners of 1973 and older vehicles are able to register and use original pairs of plates from that year on their vehicles. For license plate collectors wishing to obtain a sample license plate they are available directly from the Utah State Tax Commission.

Famous quotes containing the words vehicle and/or plates:
“If you are to reach masses of people in this world, you must do it by a sign language. Whether your vehicle be commerce, literature, or politics, you can do nothing but raise signals, and make motions to the people.”
—John Jay Chapman (18621933)
“Behold now this vast city; a city of refuge, the mansion house of liberty, encompassed and surrounded with his protection; the shop of war hath not there more anvils and hammers waking, to fashion out the plates and instruments of armed justice in defence of beleaguered truth, than there be pens and hands there, sitting by their studious lamps, musing, searching, revolving new notions.”
—John Milton (16081674)
