Famous quotes containing the word fate:

So the old flute was doomed and its fate was pathetic,
‘Twas fastened and burned at the stake as heretic,
While the flames roared around it they heard a strange
    noise—
‘Twas the old flute still whistling ‘The Protestant Boys’.
—Unknown. The Old Orange Flute (l. 37–40)

I love Italian opera—it’s so reckless. Damn Wagner, and his bellowings at Fate and death. Damn Debussy, and his averted face. I like the Italians who run all on impulse, and don’t care about their immortal souls, and don’t worry about the ultimate.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

The fate of love is that it always seems too little or too much.
    Amelia E. Barr (1831–1919)
