History of The District

The Coeur d’Alene Mining District is one of the pre-eminent silver, lead and zinc producing areas in the world, located near the base of the panhandle of northern Idaho, and has produced over 1 billion ounces of silver. Spokane, Washington is approximately 75 miles (121 km) to the west and Missoula, Montana is approximately 110 miles (180 km) to the east and extends for over 20 miles (32 km) in a northwest-southeast direction.
