University of Pittsburgh School of Information Sciences - Building

Building

Originally the American Institutes for Research Building, the University purchased the 1965 Tasso Katselas designed Brutalist style structure in 1968 and it has since then served as the primary facility housing the School of Information Sciences. In 1975, a renovation was completed that enclosed the building's lower levels to create additional classrooms and offices.

Famous quotes containing the word building:

The real dividing line between early childhood and middle childhood is not between the fifth year and the sixth year—it is more nearly when children are about seven or eight, moving on toward nine. Building the barrier at six has no psychological basis. It has come about only from the historic-economic-political fact that the age of six is when we provide schools for all.
James L. Hymes, Jr. (20th century)

For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
Bible: New Testament, 2 Corinthians 5:1.

Notice how he has numbered the blue veins
in my breast. Moreover there are ten freckles.
Now he goes left. Now he goes right.
He is building a city, a city of flesh.
    He’s an industrialist.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
