School of Life Sciences
School of Life Sciences (SLS) offers Post graduate courses in the major thrust areas of life sciences including Biochemistry, Animal and Plant sciences,Biotechnology and Bioinformatics.
The school has four departments:
- Department of Biotechnology
- Department of Animal Sciences
- Department of Biochemistry
- Department of Plant Sciences
- Department of Biophysics
Each of the four departments offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes of study. Under Distance Education Programme, the School is participating in two P.G. Diplomas: one in "Environmental Management" and the other in "Medicinal Botany".
Centre for Advanced Studies Status: The University Grants Commission has upgraded Phase III of UGC-Special Assistance, DSA programme (period 2002-2007) and sanctioned the status of Centre for Advanced Studies (UGC-SAP-CAS-I) in School of Life Sciences for a period of five years (2008–2013) The following are the thrust areas for research and teaching

- Functional genomics
