UK State Pension - Future Flat-rate Pensions

Future Flat-rate Pensions

The Coalition Government has proposed that the earnings-related Second State pension be replaced by a flat-rate pension which is not based on earnings. A green paper was issued in April 2011.

It was also proposed that various rules regarding marriage, divorce and bereavement be phased out. This would mean that Category B pensions (see above) would be replaced by Category A pensions for everyone.

Famous quotes containing the words future and/or pensions:

Only he who can view his own past as an abortion sprung from compulsion and need can use it to full advantage in the present. For what one has lived is at best comparable to a beautiful statue which has had all its limbs knocked off in transit, and now yields nothing but the precious block out of which the image of one’s future must be hewn.
    Walter Benjamin (1892–1940)

Many old people receive pensions for no other reason, it seems to me, but as a compensation for having lived a long time ago.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
