Nature
Tung Chung is surrounded by two large country parks, cover an area of Lantau Island as large as Hong Kong Island: The Lantau North and Lantau South Country Parks.
The presence of mangroves and freshwater streams in Tung Chung provides excellent ecologically valuable habitats for freshwater fish species, dragonflies and rare amphibians.
However, the reclamation and other civil engineering works in Tung Chung has heavily damaged these habitats, and produced irreversible damage to native wildlife and the surrounding environment.

Famous quotes containing the word nature:
“There is much in nature against us. But we forget:
Take nature altogether since time began,
Including human nature, in peace and war,
And it must be a little more in favor of man....”
—Robert Frost (18741963)
“Thou loving soul with that unlovely face,
Thou foulest offspring of the fairest race,
Cease to lament: had Nature meant him kind,
Shed not have made him lame, but struck him blind.”
—Horace Walpole (17171797)
“But man postpones or remembers; he does not live in the present, but with reverted eye laments to the past, or, heedless of the riches that surround him, stands on tiptoe to foresee the future. He cannot be happy and strong until he too lives with nature in the present, above time.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (18031882)
