Tranz Metro, part of KiwiRail, is the operator of Metlink suburban trains owned by the Greater Wellington Regional Council in the Wellington Region of New Zealand.
Tranz Metro operates the five-line 154-kilometre (96 mi) Metlink network, fanning north out of Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, as far as Waikanae in the west and Masterton in the east. On average, 930,000 trips are made on Metlink trains each month. It claims 95% on-time performance for services arriving within 5 minutes of their schedule.
