Take the High Road was a Scottish soap opera produced by Scottish Television, and set in the fictional village of Glendarroch (exteriors were filmed in the real-life village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond), and claims to have about 2 million fans, including the Queen Mother. It started in February 1980 as an ITV daytime soap opera, and was dropped by the network in 1993, although various members of the ITV Network (notably Border Television and Central Television) continued to screen the programme, while others (such as Yorkshire Television and Carlton Television) had no interest in doing so.

Famous quotes containing the word high:
“What is most striking in the Maine wilderness is the continuousness of the forest, with fewer open intervals or glades than you had imagined. Except the few burnt lands, the narrow intervals on the rivers, the bare tops of the high mountains, and the lakes and streams, the forest is uninterrupted.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
