Famous quotes containing the words british, irish and/or lions:

“When a man wants to write a book full of unassailable facts, he always goes to the British Museum.”
    —Anthony Trollope (1815–1882)

    “Concurring hands divide

    flax for damask
that when bleached by Irish weather
    has the silvered chamois-leather
    water-tightness of a
    skin.”
    —Marianne Moore (1887–1972)

    “these heroic happy dead
who rushed like lions to the roaring slaughter
they did not stop to think they died instead
then shall the voice of liberty be mute?

He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water”
    —E.E. (Edward Estlin)
