Suriname has participated in the qualifying matches for the FIFA World Cup since 1938, but has never qualified for the finals. The Surinamese team, consisting of internationals Surinamese and Dutch players of Surinamese origin, placed second in the most recent PARBO Beer Cup behind French Guiana.
