Current Status
As of mid 2012, Song Fight! has conducted more than 650 fights and is host to more than 9500 entries.
"Cover art" is also accepted for each fight, though it is not a separate "art fight" in that no voting process occurs. The submission of fight art is considered more of a service than a competition. Fight art is a reference to the earliest days of Song Fight!, when Explodingdog artist Sam Brown produced much of the artwork for each week's fight. There is also an archive of all submitted artwork.
While Song Fight! remains the center of the community, peripheral sites have sprung up within the Song Fight! "network", perhaps most notably somesongs.org, a site that connects users to amateur recording artists' original works while maintaining a rating and comment system for the benefit of both parties. somesongs.org was created and originally administered by Jeff Fal of Add, another prolific Song Fight! contributor. Additionally, there have been a number of so-called "side fights," where members of the community record songs on a theme or rerecord each others' music.

Famous quotes containing the words current and/or status:
“We all participate in weaving the social fabric; we should therefore all participate in patching the fabric when it develops holesmismatches between old expectations and current realities.”
—Anne C. Weisberg (20th century)
“Anthropologists have found that around the world whatever is considered mens work is almost universally given higher status than womens work. If in one culture it is men who build houses and women who make baskets, then that culture will see house-building as more important. In another culture, perhaps right next door, the reverse may be true, and basket- weaving will have higher social status than house-building.”
—Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen. Excerpted from, Gender Grace: Love, Work, and Parenting in a Changing World (1990)
