Sleep Mode

Sleep mode refers to a low power mode for electronic devices such as computers, televisions, and remote controlled devices. These modes save significantly on electrical consumption compared to leaving a device fully on and, upon resume, allow the user to avoid having to reissue instructions or to wait for a machine to reboot. Many devices signify this power mode with a pulsed or red coloured LED power light.

Famous quotes containing the words sleep and/or mode:

    How gladly would I meet,
Mortality, my sentence, and be earth
Insensible! how glad would lay me down,
As in my mother’s lap! There I should rest,
    And sleep secure.
    John Milton (1608–1674)

The mode of clearing and planting is to fell the trees, and burn once what will burn, then cut them up into suitable lengths, roll into heaps, and burn again; then, with a hoe, plant potatoes where you can come at the ground between the stumps and charred logs; for a first crop the ashes suffice for manure, and no hoeing being necessary the first year. In the fall, cut, roll, and burn again, and so on, till the land is cleared; and soon it is ready for grain, and to be laid down.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
