Famous quotes containing the words sky, news and/or australia:

Then I had only prisoners’ thoughts. I awaited the daily walk which I took in the yard, or my lawyer’s visit. I managed the remainder of my time very well. I have often thought that if I was made to live in a dry tree trunk, without any other occupation but to watch the flower of the sky above my head, I would have gradually gotten used to it.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

I don’t have any problem with a reporter or a news person who says the President is uninformed on this issue or that issue. I don’t think any of us would challenge that. I do have a problem with the singular focus on this, as if that’s the only standard by which we ought to judge a president. What we learned in the last administration was how little having an encyclopedic grasp of all the facts has to do with governing.
    David R. Gergen (b. 1942)

It is very considerably smaller than Australia and British Somaliland put together. As things stand at present there is nothing much the Texans can do about this, and ... they are inclined to shy away from the subject in ordinary conversation, muttering defensively about the size of oranges.
Alex Atkinson, British humor writer. repr. In Present Laughter, ed. Alan Coren (1982)
